the rope project - event

The Shop at The Bass welcomes artist Lisu Vega with The Rope Project, presented by STUDIO AF, a body of work that moves fluidly between art, fashion, and sculpture. Rooted in a deeply intuitive and material-driven process, the project begins with painterly gestures that expand into the tridimensional, transforming poly-silk rope into objects that exist both on and around the body.

Through an upcycling approach, Vega works with the rope as a dual material. Its exterior becomes wearable pieces, soft, light, and unisex, designed to embrace the body with a sense of protection and quiet strength. Its interior is reimagined into sculptural woven forms, each one carrying an organic, almost instinctive presence.

Every piece is handmade, shaped by process rather than perfection, allowing irregularities to become part of the language. The result is a collection that feels both intimate and architectural, where fashion and sculpture exist in constant dialogue.

A multidisciplinary artist, Lisu Vega works across engraving, sculpture, installation, and fashion. Her practice is grounded in sustainability, with a strong commitment to recycled materials and zero-waste processes. At the same time, her work carries a deeper narrative, exploring migration, memory, and identity, while honoring ancestral techniques rooted in her Wayuu heritage and bringing them into a contemporary context.

The Rope Project is an invitation to experience material transformation, where what once was becomes something entirely new, wearable, sculptural, and deeply personal.
